Description

The core function of a watch has remained virtually unchanged over the centuries, but mechanical watches from the brand's point of view tell us that the way in which time is displayed is slowly evolving. Materials have advanced, precision manufacturing techniques have become more capable and this has ultimately led to the ability to create watch timepieces that are unique and special, even in the way they display the time of day 24 hours a day. As a company Angles Watches emphasizes non-traditional ways of telling time and their latest release, the limited edition Chain of Time, has a striking aesthetic that can be described as a unique chain drive driven approach to timekeeping with a traditional 24 hour dial.

The pre-ordered Chain of Time comes in a total of five different colors, each limited to just 20 pieces. The cases all feature the classic brushed 316L stainless steel finish, with the green dial model featuring a gunmetal DLC coating and the black version featuring a matching black DLC case. Regardless of the color, the cases follow the same fluid shape of a vertically oriented oval with integrated lugs and an engraved limited edition number on the bottom of the case. Push-pull winding crown. Normally, the crown would be considered to be at the 6 o'clock position, but since this watch follows the 24-hour system, the crown is actually located directly below the 12 o'clock marker, even though it is located at the bottom of the watch.

Occupying the center of the dial is the model's signature microchain transmission complication, which consists of two large vertically oriented cogwheels that are connected by a tiny chain around their perimeter. The minute hand, inlaid with luminescence, is mounted directly on the lower cogwheel and rotates every hour, while the hour hand, also inlaid with luminescence, is attached to the chain and travels along the oval dial in a 24-hour cycle throughout the day, with Arabic numerals on the convex dial ring around it indicating the hour. The dials are all coated with Swiss Super-LumiNova, which gives them a very strong luminescent effect.

Looking at the dial of the Chain of Time, it would be easy to assume that the watch is driven by a superb watchmaker's exclusive, entirely in-house movement that needs to be handed back to the manufacturer every time it needs servicing or repair. However, at the heart of the Chain of Time watch is the reliable Swiss-made Sellita SW220-1 fully automatic movement and driving its signature micro-chain-driven modular complication.Running at 28,800vph and offering a chronograph accuracy of +/-10 seconds per day and a 36-hour power reserve, the SW220-1 is one of the most maturely designed movements you'll find in the Swiss watchmaking industry. It's the most sophisticated movement you'll find in the Swiss watch industry, which guarantees the Chain of Time's unique complications along with timekeeping accuracy.

All models of the Chain of Time come with a genuine alligator leather strap with a folding folding clasp with the Angles logo, which is made of 316L stainless steel and matches the case of the watch. Additionally, the color of the strap matches the color of the dial on each model, with the only exception being the green model, which features a black strap for added contrast. Despite the differences, the proportions of the straps are the same, shrinking from 26 millimeters at the lugs all the way down to 20 millimeters at the buckle for added comfort and a sleeker overall look.
